T.S. Eliot letters, 1945-1952.

Facsimile typewritten copies of T.S. Eliot letters. Both are written on Faber and Faber stationery from London. One is to Cyril Connolly on April 18, 1945, inquiring about what clothes he should bring to Paris. The other letter is to Mrs. Melvin Heggem on Dec. 30, 1952 in response to her inquiry about Helen Gardner's criticism of his work.

Thomas Stearns Eliot (1888-1965), a poet, critic, editor, and playwright, was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He received a B. A. in 1909 and an M. A. in 1910 from Harvard, where he also pursued a doctoral degree in philosophy. In 1915, he married Vivienne (Vivien) Haigh-Wood.
